To start, Marie in Lisbon is a family-run business founded by Marie, who works alongside her husband Frederico and her lifelong friend Madeleine, together, they form the heart of the company.

We’re more than planners, we’re a passionate team that works like a family, and we welcome each couple as part of it. We share the same values, aesthetic, and passion for creating unforgettable celebrations. Every wedding is crafted with care, love, and meticulous attention to detail.

Our team brings together experience in hospitality, communication, and on-site problem solving. We have a strong sense of design, creativity, and an understanding of music and technical aspects, always attentive and caring toward everyone involved in the celebration. The team is also trained in first aid, ensuring that any situation can be handled calmly and professionally.

Coming from different backgrounds, our team speaks French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, so you can always count on speaking with someone fluently in one of these languages.

The team is experienced in design and décor, ensuring they can bring a cohesive and personalized vision to life. Together with Marie and her team, you’ll create mood boards, select color palettes, and design the layout of your wedding. Our team is based in Lisbon, Portugal, but we plan weddings all around the world. We’ve worked on beautiful celebrations in Portugal, France, Spain, and Morocco, and we’re always open to new destinations.

We usually begin planning between 9 and 16 months before the wedding. Most couples reach out to us more than a year in advance, which allows for a wider range of venue and vendor options.

Absolutely. Our team is always on-site from start to finish to make sure everything runs smoothly. You’ll always have us by your side until the very last dance.

We place a strong priority on the guest experience, as it is one of the most important aspects of a wedding. Everything is designed for the guests, the couple, and the families.

We make sure that guests feel supported and taken care of from the beginning to the end, not only during the event itself, but also before and after. For us, since it is a destination wedding, we focus on the guests’ entire experience, not just the wedding day itself.

We work hand-in-hand with a network of trusted professionals we truly believe in, venues, florists, decorators, photographers, and more. However, we’re always open to discovering new vendors that reflect your personal taste and style. While always ensuring the quality and professionalism of the vendors, we also make sure they can work seamlessly with us, with one another, and throughout your entire wedding celebration.

We’re a small, close-knit team, feeling like a family, and we treat every couple as part of it. We stay in touch regularly, are always available to answer questions, and make sure you feel supported and stress-free every step of the way.

Marie and Madeleine are both French but grew up in Morocco. Coming from families who loved to travel, they became fluent in foreign languages very quickly.

Frederico is Portuguese and speaks fluently French and English as well.

We communicate with our vendors mostly in Portuguese and English, depending on where they are from. With our couples, we always adapt to their preferred language, since our team speaks several, we make sure everything feels easy and comfortable for you.

Transparency is key for us. Depending on the location and logistics (especially for multi-day weddings far from the city), travel, accommodation or extra staff on site can be required, but all costs are clearly discussed and approved from the very beginning.

We provide full support and guidance to bride & groom, from helping choose the dress, costume or a second outfit, to giving personal advice on timing, planning, and decisions.
